A Short List of Reasons I became an Atheist

1. The God I experienced was a mere emotional complex rather than a relational being.
2. There are a plethora of religions other than Christianity
3. Needed to pick and choose from the Bible in order to maintain my respect for science and my respect for God
4. Multiple interpretations of scripture, suggesting an ambiguity of meaning where a relational being like God ought to have taken more care in ensuring such a cacophony of interpretations didn't arise in the first place
5. The progressive churches like the Meeting House propped up the absolutist claims of Christianity on a language of a rejection of religion. Those other faiths are religions, but we followers of Christ are irreligious. This is both dishonest and downright insulting to the intelligence of the audience.

And this list is by no means complete.

Phil, you have picked a wrong time to become an atheist.

I believe you became one because of a lack of time spent with God.

To answer your points:
1. IF GOD IS a relational being, how/much have you spent in this relationship?

2. There are a plethora of religions but only one way, one truth, one life, and one death to absolve each and every sin.

3. The Bible has stated a case for HISTORY far more accurate then scientific methods can accrue. (cont.)

4. There may be multiple interpretations of Scripture but there is NO ambiguity. There is only one Spirit, one text. Why are there differences in opinion is a matter of personal opinion.

5. don't understand

If I can share there were a time I focused on the world and its religions more than God, and that has caused me to shift allegiance. But if not by God's grace, I would not have believed again. As someone has said, "God does not shake away the doubtful, but those who are proud and haughty." And "pride goes before a fall."

#3 Cont.
Science is defined as the "way our earth works", why is there a differentiation between authencity of the Bible (spiritual) and science (physical). There is none. There is NO conflict between science and the Bible. Unless you talk about evolution WHICH has underlying basic atheistic premises.

Is science infallible?
No.
But God can bend physical laws.
Is God fallible? No.
Is man fallible?
Yes.
Does he make mistakes?
(Someone has said, "To err is human, to forgive divine.")
Is science a primary discipline of God or man?
If man is fallible, doesn't that mean that his naturalistic explanations for the world around us are also flawed(fallible)?
